Kicking off the 4th stage of "Steps for the community"

On April 16th, the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Youth Federation (VYF) in collaboration with Sacombank launched the 4th stage of the program "Steps for the community" in Son La province.

In the opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Hai Minh, Member of the Standing Committee of the HCYU’s Central Committee, Permanent Vice President of VYF’s Central Committee said that in order to concretize the movement “I love my Fatherland”, the VYF’s Central Committee had launched the program "Steps for the community" since 2020 with the companionship of Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank). The program has no age or membership restrictions. For each kilometre a participant walks or runs, Sacombank will contribute 1,000 VND to the fund of building community cultural houses for ethnic minorities. It is expected that, from 2020 to 2024, the program will build 16 community cultural houses for 16 ethnic minorities, each of which is worth 1 billion VND.

In 2022, the program will be implemented in 5 stages, and the 4th stage has been organized from April 16 to May 8, 2022 and launched the central level in Son La province, with the goal of mobilizing at least 1 million km of walking/running, equivalent to an amount of VND 01 billion supported by Sacombank to build a community cultural house for La Ha people in Son La province.

After the launching ceremony of the program, all delegates and 500 youth union members participated in 2 rounds walking/running around the Northwest Square, move to the Youth Hill, return to gather at the Square.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented 20 gifts to 20 village patriarchs, village heads, reputable people and policy households who are ethnic minorities with difficult circumstances (1 million VND each person); awarded 20 scholarships to 20 outstanding ethnic minority students with difficult circumstances (1 million VND each person); presented a symbolic signboard to La Ha Community Cultural House project worthing 1 billion VND, a symbolic signboard of building 13 schools for students worthing 3.320 million VND; a symbolic signboard of 200 social security bags worthing 50 million VND.
