Over 3000 students with impoverished backgrounds to receive 15 tons of rice

Web.HCYU.25/4/2020. The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Union of Students provided free rice for Vietnamese students and their foreign counterparts at University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi last Saturday.

As a part of the programme “San sẻ yêu thương, chung tay vượt qua đại dịch” (Sharing love, joining hands to overcome the pandemic), the activity aims to offer support to youngsters and people who are facing hardships due to Covid-19.

In Hanoi, Lương thực Lộc Phượng Co., LTD sponsored over 15 tons of rice in order to help more than 3000 students from the North or Middle part of Vietnam. The Viet Nam National Union of Students (VNUS) was in charge of organising the event at six different venues including dormitories of Hanoi University of Science and technology, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, etc. 

Apart from that, there will be more activities implemented to provide practical aid for students, such as giving free masks as well as hand sanitizers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Quang Huy believed that via these activities, the VNUS aims to fully express its role as a reliable companion of all Vietnamese students, and that this aid will play a helpful role in the context of many students lacking in access to facilities.

Expressing her happiness when receiving gifts from the VNUS, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, a freshman of the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University appreciated the present and believed that it would help her go through this tough and challenging time.

The activity will be launched in many cities and provinces. In order to simultaneously uphold social resources and impulse the spirit to overcome adversity, and benevolence of Vietnamese students, VNUS will continuously cooperate with businesses and societies.
