Exciting activities launching the Youth Month in 2020

Web.HCYU.03/3/2020. On the first days of March, Youth Union at different provinces have organised many meaningful social security activities in the context of COVID-19 pandemic.

As the situation of COVID-19 is becoming complicated, the Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union decided not to organize the national launching ceremony and asked the Provincial Standing Committee not to do so at crowded places. However, they will shift their focus to deploy specific campaigns which are suitable for recent situations at each province.

In the first two days of March, there were different forms of welcoming the month of Youth: While Hanoi has decided to focus on fanpage and online activities, Yen Bai has warmly greeted the month by practical ways: Providing medical advice, offering presents for the poor, supporting underprivileged children, encouraging creativities and scientific research among the youth, working on “Support Yen Bai Youth on starting business in 2019-2020” project and “Career consultancy and jobs provision for Youth in 2018-2022” projects.

In order to prevent the pandemic, it is compulsory for participants to wear facemasks and use hand sanitizer water while joining the activities. Moreover, the Youth is in need of organizing public disease prevention as well as immediately inform appropriate authorities in case of suspected diseases. 

Some outstanding achievements:

Ho Chi Minh city has implemented 5 projects which go towards the purpose of coronavirus prevention.

In Dong Thap, Mr Nguyen Van Vu Minh - Provincial Youth Union Secretary stated that they did not organize the launching ceremony, but focus on the work to help people better understand the epidemic prevention. The volunteers gave free masks and bars of soap to people in Tan Thuan Tay Commune.

Quang Tri province has directed the Youth Union to simultaneously launch the "Green Sunday" for the first time in 2020 and organize activities to prevent and control Covid - 19.

In Ben Tre, Mr Ha Quoc Cuong - the Provincial Youth Union Secretary informed that they had taken advantage of low salinity-days to have helped people build dams to prevent salinity and store fresh water for the people.

In Soc Trăng, there were also some projects and provincial works such as the program "Let's clean the sea", environmental sanitation and planting trees in Tran De district along with two rural bridges construction. 

An Giang has set the target for the month as 100% of the Youth Union members would participate in at least 1 project in the construction of new rural areas, civilized urban or in political tasks implementation.

Binh Duong introduced typical Youth projects in 2020, awarded "Red scarf" and “Ho Van Hen scholarship” for children to overcome difficulties.

Nghe An organized practical and meaningful activities which emphasized on the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic with the slogan “ EASY - SAVING - EFFICIENT.”

Hai Phong hosted the city-level organization of practical and meaningful works to protect the environment and prevent SARS-CoV-2 diseases such as: “Removing the black spots of garbage in Dong Khe” ; offering free masks and hand sanitizer as well as launching the "Recycle Bin" project.
