Honoring 120 outstanding ethnic minority students and young people

In the evening of November 12th, in Hanoi, the Committee for Ethnic Minorities in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) held a ceremony to commend outstanding and excellent students of ethnic minorities in 2019. Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh attended and delivered a speech.
Attending the meeting were Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Ms. Truong Thi Mai; other leaders of the State and Party; Mr. Le Quoc Phong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the HCYU, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister, Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Do Van Chien said: The proportion of ethnic minority students won high prizes in the national excellent student contests, the national science and technology examinations, the number of students admitted to universities with high scores all increased, compared to previous years.
Among the 120 outstanding students and young people of ethnic minorities, representatives of 28 ethnic groups in 34 provinces and cities were recognized in 2019. Typically, Ha Minh Quang, a Tay ethnic group, was born and raised in Ha Noi, is one of 77 people of ethnic minority students admitted to universities with a total of 26 points or more.
Mr. Truong Hoa Binh said that the Government has submitted to the National Assembly and in the coming time, Viet Nam will drastically and effectively direct the implementation of the "Overall scheme of socio-economic development of ethnic minority, mountainous areas and areas with particularly difficult conditions ". At the same time, ministries, branches and localities are requested to step up propaganda and raise awareness of the importance of education, training and related issues in ethnic minority areas.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee commended 120 outstanding students and ethnic minority youths. They received Certificate of Merit from the Committee for Ethnic Minorities and many other prestigious awards.
