Many activities of Vietnamese students abroad are directed towards the Fatherland

Web.HCYU.28/9/2019. In the afternoon of September 28, the Vietnam National Union of Students organized an online meeting with nine Vietnamese Union of Student branches abroad, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Hungary, South Korea, Thailand and Singapore.

Mr. Bui Quang Huy, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU), Chairman of the Vietnam National Union of Students (VNUS) attended and chaired the meeting. Mr. Bui Van Linh, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and Ms. Le Thuy Trang, Deputy Head of Public Affairs Department, Foreign Party Committee also attended the meeting.

Connecting international students and entrepreneurs

At the meeting, overseas VUS branches expressed their desire that the VNUS would become a bridge to connect students with entrepreneurs in big cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to  promote entrepreneurship and creativity among students.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh, Chairman of the VUS in Germany reminded that the trip to Truong Sa Islands with the connection of the Ho Chi Minh City branch of VNUS contributed to encourage patriotism of Vietnamese students in Germany.

Sharing about the work of the VUS in Germany recently, Mr. Viet Anh highlighted activities that stimulated the spirit of innovation in the era of digitalization trend and the 4th industrial revolution. The startup project attracted over 100 students and many experts involved. Through these activities, the VUS in Germany hopes that other VUS branches will support to establish partner relationship with FDI companies so Vietnamese students overseas can obtain internship and job in Vietnam more easily.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Que Son, Vice Chairman of VUS of Ho Chi Minh City said that he would send representatives to participate in the Vietnam Student Training Camp in Germany, and pledged to continue to coordinate domestic voluntary activities.

Representative of the VUS in Hungary proposed to build a directory of businesses, experts and  contact points to help international students to approach and seek for support and advice when starting a business.

In addition, Mr. Mai Tuan Minh, representative of VUS in Korea, suggested that the VNUS should develop a special startup project among international students to connect ideas, share opportunities, and find funding for startups.

Many activities of Vietnamese students abroad are about Sea and Islands

Not only being creative in cultural activities, sports, entrepreneurship, and scientific research, Vietnamese students abroad also have many meaningful activities to demonstrate responsibility of young people to the Fatherland.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh, Chairman of VUS in Germany, said that there are always many activities towards the homeland, especially the sea. Over the past time, VUS in Germany has cooperated with the Embassy, the Sea Island Club and Vietnamese community in Germany to plan and participate in military and civilian projects in Truong Sa Islands. VUS in Germany has sent 01 representative to visit troops and people in Truong Sa island district.

Ms. Nguyen Khanh Linh, Chairman of VUS in France said that students and Vietnamese community in France concerns about the sovereignty issue in the East Sea. VNUS in France has planned to collect 10,000 signatures of Vietnamese in France and international friends to send to the representative of the European Union in Belgium to express their support for the righteousness of Vietnam in protecting sovereignty in the East Sea.

VNUS in Korea also cooperated with the “Sovereignty over islands Foundation” to organize seminars on the East Sea under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea and launched many programs toward Truong Sa in 2019.

According to Ms. Le Thuy Trang, Deputy Head of Public Affairs, Foreign Party Committee, VNUS branches overseas  are the extended arms of the Embassy toward Vietnamese students, and being a key force to promote and implement activities overseas. Therefore, VNUS branches abroad must keep in touch and approach the Foreign Party Committee and Embassy of Vietnam in the host country in any case of difficulties.

Mr. Bui Van Linh, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs, MOET assessed that VNUS branches overseas not only are creative in cultural activities, sports, entrepreneurship, scientific research, and volunteer activities but also organize meaningful activities that demonstrate responsibility of young people toward the country.

Mr. Linh hoped that representatives of VNUS branches abroad would soon set up Facebook accounts with closed groups to share information regularly. Through this secret group, Vietnamese students can share difficulties in studying, life, scholarship policy ... This will practical for international students so that the MOET can answer all questions. Through this, the MOET would like to listen and share, consult about issues of safe school construction and arouse the spirit of entrepreneurship among students.
