Let the children speak up
Web.HCYU.30/7/2019. At the Workshop on sharing experience of implementing the Children Council Model, most of the delegates said that the initial model showed positive effects, creating the environment and opportunities for children to speak up.
In the morning of July 30th, in Hanoi, the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization cooperated with the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and Children and the Plan International Vietnam to organize a workshop on implementing the Children Council Model.
Attending the workshop were Ms. Ngo Thi Minh, Deputy Head of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and Children; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Secretary of the HCYU; Ms. Sharon Kane, Director of the Plan International Vietnam.
According to the report, up to now, there have been 10 provinces and cities with Children Council, in which, 8 localities organized at provincial level and 2 localities at district level. In 2019, the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization continues to guide and orient the provinces to replicate the model of Children Council.
Ms. Bui Lan Phuong, Vice Chairman of Hanoi Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization said that the Hanoi Children Council holds conference twice a year, focusing on pressing issues in the society such as: prevention of injuries, drowning, violence against children, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quang, Deputy Director of Quang Tri Department of Foreign Affairs proposed, in order to improve the role of children, we should let them choose their representatives for Children's Council.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Dang, Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization said that, the establishment of the Child Council created a favorable environment and enhanced the capacity of children, in order to promote Children's Participation Rights.

Ms. Ngo Thi Minh, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, and Children emphasized that Vietnam pays great attention to children's participation rights. According to her, it is important to respect children and let them speak up.
