SSEAYP 2015 arrived Ho Chi Minh City
Web.HCYU.18/11/2015. Ho Chi Minh City – The 42th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program 2015 (SSEAYP 2015) arrived Cat Lai port of Ho Chi Minh City. A large number of city youths joined the welcoming event.
In five days, the youth representatives will take part in many cultural activities, exchange with local youths and visit popular relic sites. The young participants will take part in homestay program and experience Vietnamese culture during their time in Ho Chi Minh City.

Addressing the welcoming ceremony, Mr Nguyen Long Hai, HCYU Secretary, Vice chairman of the National Committee on Youth of Vietnam stated that Vietnam attached importance to the activities of Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program in enhancing friendly relations and mutual understanding between ASEAN and Japan.
The Government and people of Vietnam highly appreciate and trust in young people as the leading force in all fronts of national development, said Mr Nguyen Long Hai. He spoke highly of the friendly relationship as it fosters peace, solidarity and cooperation among the countries. He suggested the governments of ASEAN and Japan to continue supporting the youth exchange as an effective way to strengthen the contacts of youth and people in the region.
SSEAYP 2015 is taking aboard 322 youth representatives from 10 ASEAN countries and Japan, in which Vietnam has 29 members. The ship started from Tokyo on 5 November and expected to visit the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Malaysia before return to Japan.
The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP) is an annual programme sponsored by the Japanese Government and supported by the member-countries of ASEAN. SSEAYP started since 1974 and Vietnam officially participated in the programme in 1996 while Laos and Myanmar participated in 1998, and Cambodia in 2000.
