4500 standard helmets given to motorcyclists

The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union coordinated with the National Traffic Safety Committee and Unilever Vietnam Ltd to wrap up the “all motorcyclists wear standard safety helmets” campaign and award the Video contest “Wear a standardized helmet, arrive home safely”.

 The one-month communication campaign on wearing standard safety helmet 2015 titled “Wear a standardized helmet, arrive home safely” launched across Vietnam from 24/8 to 25/9.  

This is the second year in a row the central of Vietnam Youth Federation coordinate with the National Traffic Safety Committee and Unilever Vietnam Ltd (Clear – a shampoo brand) to organize the meaningful campaign of calling for people to wear standardized safety helmet.

This year campaign takes place Hanoi capital and Ho Chi Minh city - Vietnam’s largest cities. There were about 4500 standardized safety helmets given, according to the concluding report.

During the campaign, Hanoi mobilized more than 4000 youth union members, rallied around Hoan Kiem Lake to participate in testing knowledge about traffic safety and destroy more than 1000 poor quality helmets, check and exchange 2000 standard safety helmets to motorcycle taxis and motorcyclists at 10 key traffic points in the city.     

Addressing the finalizing ceremony, President of VYF Nguyen Phi Long shared “over the past years, the Central Youth Union, VYF along with the National Traffic Safety Committee and related agencies organize many activities on road safety, in which, raising awareness of wearing standard helmets is a main focus, significantly contribute to the reduction of unfortunate traffic accidents”.     

After a month of running the video contest, the organizer received 75 clips. At the finalizing ceremony, top three prizes were awarded.
