Opening the 19th Conference of the Central Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, term XI

 On the morning of April 7th, 2022, in Hanoi, the 19th Conference of the Central Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU), term XI was opened under the chairmanship of Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the HCYU.
 
During the 1.5-day Conference, delegates discussed and commented on the reports and documents evaluating the results of 11 topics, which implement the Resolution of the 11th National Youth Union Congress.

In the first working session, delegates focused on discussing and giving opinions on thematic contents including: Evaluation of educational work results of revolutionary ideals, ethics, cultural lifestyle, awareness of law observance for youth and children in the period of 2018 – 2022; Conclusion on strengthening education of revolutionary ideals for Youth Union members and young people; Scheme on drug control among young people, period 2018 – 2022; the “Youth pioneering to defend the homeland” and “Youth with Innovation” movement; Work result of improving English competency for Vietnamese young people; of the Youth Union taking part in building the new rural area, environmental protection and response to climate change; Report on inspection and supervision for the 2017-2022 term.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said that up to now, the work of directing the model district-level congress has basically been completed; the Logo of the 12th HCYU National Congress has been announced; The draft political report of the National Congress has passed 5 rounds of collecting comments from different stakeholders... The Youth Union at all levels have prepared early and thoroughly for the organization of the Congress at all levels, towards the 12th National Congress.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan suggested that the delegates focus on discussing and giving opinions on 11 topics to get more materials, practical basis; on the other hand, suggesting new directions, new work routes to be included in the draft document to be submitted to the 12th HCYU National Congress .

Promoting effective digital application in HCYU’s activities

In addition, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan also suggested delegates focusing on discussing and giving opinions on important contents related to the draft document and issues of supplementing and amending the HCYU’s Charter.

Mr. Bui Hoa Nam, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union, commented that the review and assessment of life-ethical education for young people should include the overview of the technology boom and the evaluation of the operation model in digital technology. He said that the revolutionary ideal education for young people should be associated with the local revolutionary history through digital technology; The model "Everyday a good news, everyday a beautiful story" needs to be deployed more strongly on social networks. Furthermore, strengthening educational solutions for revolutionary ideals in cyberspace, organizing gameshows for different age group are ways to promote education.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Xuan, Secretary of Binh Buong Provincial Youth Union, said that through many tragic cases that happened recently, teaching life skills for young people needs special attention and promotion more than ever. The HCYU needs to have solutions to coordinate with relevant units to promote life skills education, psychological counseling and mental health for children to easily overcome difficult challenges in life.

"Perseverance" with movements that are already valid

Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Phuong, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, said that the HCYU should focus on "persistence" in the work of educating children about ideals, morality and lifestyle. The current activities of the HCYU have not kept up with the "new trends" of young people. The Youth Union needs to renew its educational method, but must "persist" with the movements that have been valued and confirmed over the years in order to develop the movement strongly, deeply, and make impression on the youth.

In the afternoon session, the delegates continued to discuss and give opinions on thematic reports and documents evaluating the results of the implementation of the 11th HCYU National Congress' Resolution, including: Topic 6: Overview of the situation of Vietnamese youth in the period of 2017-2022 and a forecast for the period of 2022 – 2027; Topic 7: Evaluation of the results of the Program "Supporting youth in business start-up and self-establishment" in the period of 2018 – 2022 (Integrating the evaluation of the Scheme on vocational counseling and employment placement for young people in the period of 2018 - 2022; the Scheme on supporting youth start-ups in the period of 2019 - 2022; Conclusions on strengthening support for young people to do business in the period 2018 - 2022); Topic 8: Evaluation of the results of HCYU establishment work in the period 2018 - 2022 (Integrating evaluating the results of the implementation of the project on training and fostering children and youth organizations’ cadres; Conclusion on solutions to improve the quality of HCYU work; Conclusions on solutions to improve the quality of HCYU's activities in residential areas in the period of 2019 - 2022); Topic 10: Report on the results of the Youth Union's work in protection, care and education for young people and children in the period 2018 – 2022; Topic 11: Evaluation of the results of the implementation of the "Youth Volunteer" Movement in the period of 2018 - 2022.

In the last working session, delegates discussed and gave opinions on the contents to be submitted to the 11th HCYU Executive Committee Meeting; Draft document of the 12th HCYU National Congress, including: Draft political report; draft Review Report of the 11th HCYU Central Committee; draft Report on proposals for supplementing and amending the Charter of the HCYU, term XI.
