Clearly specify youth’s responsibilities for the country and the society
Web.HCYU.26/5/2020. One of the new points in the Youth Law amendment submitted to the National Assembly at this session is devoting a chapter, clearly specifying the responsibilities of young people to the country, state, society, families, and themselves.
Willing to sacrifice whenever the country needs On May 25th, at the National Assembly, Mr. Phan Thanh Binh, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee for Culture - Education - Youth - Adolescents- Children, said that the Bill had been added one more chapter that clearly specifies the youth’s responsibilities to the country, state, families and society, especially to the youth themselves. Moreover, the Bill also specifies the responsibilities of the state, agencies, organizations, schools and families to the youth. During discussion, many delegates advocated the new approach of the Bill. Mr. Truong Phi Hung (Long An) proposed that the youth’s responsibility to the country needs to be enhanced further, especially that every youth needs to “be ready to sacrifice whenever the country needs”. In the Bill, the point that received many arguments was choosing March as the Youth Month annually. Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao (Nam Dinh) believed that it was necessary to choose the Youth Month in the Bill, and adjustments are needed to delay the Youth Month in some specific situations like the latest one, due to COVID-19 pandemic. Developing the National Committee on Youth of Viet Nam The explanatory report of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly shows that: After receiving opinions of delegates and relevant agencies, the Bill was revised in the direction of further stipulating the National Committee on youth of Viet Nam as an interdisciplinary organization, with the function of advising the Prime Minister on youth work. The duties and authority of this committee will be assigned by the Prime Minister. Ms. Tran Thi Hang (Bac Ninh) agreed with the revision and proposed that the Committee’s responsibility in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs when performing the function of state management of youth should be specified. Mr. Vu Trong Kim (Hai Duong) proposed that the Committee be upgraded as an advisory agency of the Government, not just the Prime Minister.
