Enhance the quality and learning environment for Vietnamese students in Sweden

Continuing the business in Europe, the delegation of the Youth Union led by Comrade Le Quoc Phong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Youth Union and Chairman of the National Committee on Youth visited and worked in Sweden from June 28 - July 1, 2019.

At the meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy in Sweden, Comrade Doan Thi Phuong Dung, Ambassador of Vietnam in Sweden welcomed the delegation and discussed the situation of Vietnam - Sweden cooperation in the past time. She said that Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. After a half-century of cooperation, the relationship between the two countries is entering a new period, changing from development support to equal cooperation for mutual benefit.

According to Comrade Doan Thi Phuong Dung, Vietnamese in Sweden live, study and work well as good citizens and communities. Regarding the situation of international students, because the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students has decreased year by year, the number of Vietnamese students studying in Sweden also tends to decrease. However, the students who are studying mostly get good results and strive to participate in the activities of the Vietnamese community in Sweden.

 Mr. Le Quoc Phong hoped that the Embassy would continue to collaborate with the Swedish agencies to increase the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students; At the same time, he agreed to coordinate with the Embassy to strengthen information on quality and learning environment in Sweden to have more Vietnamese students studying in the self-sufficient form in Sweden.

In the framework of the working program, the delegation visited and worked at the Swedish Children's Rights Agency. The representative of the Swedish Children's Rights Agency discussed with the delegation about the situation of children in Sweden, the results of children's rights protection in Sweden. The leader of the Swedish Children's Rights Agency said that Viet Nam's promulgation of the Children's Law was an important step and created a legal corridor to implement the tasks and measures to protect rights and interests. for children.

Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Le Quoc Phong mentioned the movements and programs of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to protect children's rights; about Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers organization and the Team's movements for Vietnamese children. He highly appreciated the social welfare regimes that the Swedish government established for children and said that although the Law on Children is not yet available, policies to protect children's rights are enacted in the relevant laws Sweden is very comprehensive and has a lot of content that the two countries can share and learn from each other.

Leader of Swedish Youth Agency, Ms. Elisabeth Dalin discussed with the delegation about the situation of Swedish youth over the past time, the results of implementing policies on education, Swedish youth training and development as well as challenges that the Swedish State is facing in youth development work. Elisabeth Dalin said that the biggest challenge is how to help young people who dropped out of school, not get vocational training or not ensure physical health, to integrate into society, especially in the context of quantity. Young immigrants to Sweden are increasing.

 According to Elisabeth Dalin, for youth work, it is necessary to coordinate among many relevant agencies, including State agencies, to training institutions and the private sector to do so. She said that there are many youth organizations in Sweden currently run and managed by young people; These youth organizations will annually propose youth projects to the Swedish government for financial support.

Talking at the meeting, Mr. Le Quoc Phong discussed the situation of Vietnamese youth, about the organization of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, National Committee on Youth as well as policies of the Party and State. He shared about the great movements and programs of Ho Chi Minh Youth Union for young people, including activities to support disadvantaged youth to integrate into society.

Talking about Vietnamese Youth Law, Mr. Le Quoc Phong said that Vietnam is continuing to study effective policies for young people in other countries to study and apply in the process of revising the Vietnamese Youth Law. expected to be approved by the National Assembly at the end of 2019.
