Overseas students play a key role to promote activities of young people from abroad.

In the framework of the trip, the delegation visited and worked at the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, met Vietnamese students studying in Austria, visited and worked at the Austrian - Vietnamese Friendship Association.

At the meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, Mr. Le Dung, the Vietnam Ambassador to Austria, received the delegation and exchanged views on the cooperation between Vietnam and Austria. Mr. Le Dung said that the Vietnam-Austria relations over the past time had experienced very positive development steps. In 2018, Austria welcomed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to make an official visit, showing a beautiful comprehensive partnership between the two countries. Cooperation between the two countries is constantly developing in many fields, the two sides maintain regular contact, exchange high-level delegations, close cooperation and support each other at multilateral fora such as United Nations, Asia - Europe Cooperation Forum, ASEAN - EU.

At the meeting with Vietnamese students studying in Austria, the delegation listened to student representatives reporting on the situation of Vietnamese students in Austria. There are more than 200 Vietnamese students studying in Austria, mainly in Vienna capital and some big cities. Although there are still many difficulties such as the limit in the number of students, scattered in many schools and difficult to connect, Vietnamese students are still active in learning and trying to organize activities for the community. Representatives of overseas Vietnamese proposed that there would be more interconnection activities between young expatriates in Austria in particular and Europe in general with Vietnamese youths inside the country. During the meeting, the Ambassador proposed the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam National Union of Students to support the establishment of the Vietnam Student Union in Austria to create a better basis to promote the activities of Vietnamese students in Austria.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Le Quoc Phong appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese student community in Austria. He suggested overseas students, especially those who experienced the Youth Union activities should strive to promote and play a pivotal role to promote activities of young people abroad. Affirming the viewpoint that overseas Vietnamese young people is an inseparable part of Vietnamese youth, Mr. Le Quoc Phong agreed with the proposal to promote exchanges between overseas Vietnamese youth and teenagers inside the country. In addition, Mr. Le Quoc Phong agreed with the establishment of the Vietnam Student Union in Austria. At the same time, he asked the Vietnamese student community in Austria to continue to unite, with the guidance of the Central Committee, the Vietnam National Union of Students and the Embassy, contributing to improving the quality of youth activities, contributing to promoting the image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam in Austria.

In the framework of the working program, the delegation visited and worked with the Austria - Vietnam Friendship Association. Mr. Peter Jankowitsch, Chairman of Austria - Vietnam Friendship Association, former Austrian Foreign Minister and Mr. Josef Mullner, former Austrian Ambassador to Vietnam, represented the Association to welcome the delegation.

At the meeting, Mr. Peter Jankowitsch reiterated the traditional friendship relationship between Austria and Vietnam. Looking back on history, in 1972, when the reunification mission of Vietnam was in a fierce stage, the Austrian Republic was one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Mr. Jankowitsch said that in the context of the world with many unpredictable changes, Austria and Vietnam need to continue to tighten cooperation relations. He affirmed that the young generation of the two countries played a very important role in contributing to promoting Vietnam-Austria relations.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Le Quoc Phong presented basic information about the situation of Vietnam, about Vietnamese youth, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Vietnamese youth organizations as well as outstanding movements of Vietnamese youth over the past time. He also shared about the Youth Law in Vietnam and stated that Vietnam is continuing to carry out researches on effective policies for young people in other countries, in order to revise Vietnam's Youth Law.

Mr. Le Quoc Phong affirmed the role of the two countries' youths in promoting the Vietnam - Austria friendship and proposed the Vietnam - Austria Friendship Association to participate in supporting cooperation between the youth of the two countries. He hoped that the Austrian - Vietnamese Friendship Association would continue to support the Vietnamese community who are living, working and studying in Austria, which will certainly contribute to promoting the cooperation between the people of the two countries, in particular and the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Austria, in general.
