Summary of 2019 Youth Month - Rewarding 15 youth cities and provinces.

Web.HCYU.04/05/2019. In the afternoon of 12nd April, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) held a Conference to summarize the achievements of 2019 Youth Month in Da Nang city.

The 2019 Youth Month with the theme "Youth Volunteers for the Community" has been extensively implemented extensively in all youth provinces, cities and subordinate units including activities such as environmental protection, Earth Hour celebration, new trees planting (with more than 2.1 million trees)… In addition, youth organizations deployed medical examination and treatment, gave free medicine to more than 185 thousand people (increasing over 28 thousand people compared to 2018); mobilized voluntary blood donations with more than 128 thousand units of blood; repaired and built 1,284 new charity houses worth over 41 billion VND; gave scholarships for nearly 42 thousand poor students with a total value of over 29.5 billion VND; supported 430 billion VND as start-up loans for the youth union’s members (increasing over 215 billion VND compared to 2018).

The new point in this year's Youth Month is that through social networks, all the Youth Union levels have called for not using products made from plastic such as plastic bags, disposable bottles and cups; sharing the photos to educate members in this matter and mobilizing people to dump garbage in prescribed places. Besides, the Central Committee of the HCYU launched the Photo Contest named "Challenges to change" with the content of improving environmental landscapes to strongly propagate the message of youth challenging themselves to change, thus further raising awareness of the community to join hands in volunteer activities.

Speaking at the Conference, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the HCYU, Mr Le Quoc Phong assessed that activities of the 2019 Youth Month with the theme "Youth volunteers for the community" were creatively and effectively implemented at all levels, which focused on specific works and youth work contributing to promoting the volunteer pioneering spirit of members and youths. In the coming time, the First Secretary also hoped that the Youth Union levels would continue to contribute to all activities in the 2019 Youth Volunteer Campaign, thus to improve the effectiveness, practicality and spread the value of volunteering in the community; at the same time, he requested youth units to continue to focus on implementing activities to educate, propagate, prevent child sexual abuse, school violence…

At the Conference, the Executive Committee of the HCYU awarded certificates of merit to 15 youth cities and provinces who had outstanding achievements in organizing the 2019 Youth Month activities.
