Youth startups need to share and connect more to be vigorous

Web.HCYU.23.12.2018. Hanoi. Workshop on Innovative Startup themed "Resources Sharing - Information Connection" held on 22 December 2018 in Hanoi. Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union attended the event.

The workshop was organized by the Center for Business Research and Support in collaboration with the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs and Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, along with participation of representatives from ministries, enterprises and the mountainous and ethnic minority youths who have initiated their start-up projects.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Phan Van Hung, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs says, despite comparative advantages of land potential, natural resources and cultural diversity to develop specialty and tourism products, the startups in mountainous and rural areas are facing difficulties in capital, management skills, product promotion and access to relevant information. This makes many start-up projects ineffective and unsustainable.

"If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together", Mr. Phan Van Hung emphasized the importance of connecting and sharing resources and information during the start-up process.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Permanent Secretary of the Youth Union Central Committee stressed that startups are lacking of information and connections with each other. Starting a business not only needs energy, courage, and persistence but also requires resource sharing and information connection so that businesses can be stronger, go longer and further.

Connections can start from the locals who find the best indigenous characteristics. From that, they choose the decent products to develop, thus save resources and distribution channels.

"You cannot reach the market if you do not share and connect information with others in your areas" said Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan.

The Secretary also shared that after this workshop, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee plans to provide more platforms, working groups, applications on start-up information for project owners so that they can easily access, share and connect with each other.

Director of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprise Mr. Pham Hong Quat said that to support start-ups in rural and mountainous areas, it is important to help them have access to the information. If you want to start a business, you cannot "go alone", you must have a community.

"If there is no information and resources connection and sharing, it is very wasteful. Each one starts a project and focus only by oneself, it is then difficult to share and taking no advantage of resources," said Mr. Pham Hong Quat.

Mr. Pham Hong Quat also said that the localities are currently short of common workspace for start-ups, the "blood vessel" connecting people to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem. It is recommended to make use of cultural houses and community houses in rural and mountainous areas to become common workspace to share information, disseminate knowledge about startups.

Within the framework of the workshop, start-up project owners also meet with consultants on issues such as: experience of attracting investors and calling capital for start-up projects; commercializing digital products and applications; how to start organic farming…Besides, more than 30 project owners will exchange and introduce products with representatives of big stores such as Vinmart; Lotte Mart, Safe Meal, Uncle Tom, Thai Duong Star…
