HCYU First Secretary: looking for diverse contributions of HCMC’s students

Web.HCYU.21.10.2018 – Ho Chi Minh City. The Ho Chi Minh City Students Association held a conference marking the 5th mid-term (2015-2020) with the participation of nearly 300 delegates, representing more than 400,000 members. Mr Le Quoc Phong, Mr. Le Quoc Phong, Alternate Member of the CPV Central Committee, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, President of Viet Nam National Union of Students attended and addressed the conference.

In the agenda, the attending delegates gave inputs to the report on the implementation of the resolution of the 5th Congress of the City Students Association in the period of 2015 – 2018 and the draft of the political report of the 10th Congress of Viet Nam National Union of Students, term 2018 – 2023, to be held at the end of 2018 in Ha Noi; selected 128 official delegates to attend the 10th Congress; completed the executive committee, inspection committee and the secretariat of the association.

Mr. Pham Kieu Hung, Permanent Deputy President of the city student association said that during the period of 2015 - 2018, the student movement of "the five merits" has been deployed to all members of the city, through which, 100% of units implemented the movement with many effective and creative solutions. Of which, there were nearly 10,400 awareded students at university-level schools, 295 students at city-level, 187 students at central-level; there were 522 groups of students at university-level, 8 at city-level and 8 at the central-level.

Student associations at all levels promoted activities to create learning environment, scientific research and technology for students; identified solutions to create conditions for students to access advanced learning materials at home and abroad; coordinated with related agencies to build student portal to support students in promoting and introducing results of scientific and creative products to business.

During this period, the number of students participating in volunteer activities continued to increase, the content of volunteer activities in the city increasingly diversified, promoting expertise through many volunteer projects.

Addressing the conference, Mr. Le Quoc Phong said that the student movements of the city has continued the tradition of many generations and affirmed the position of leading the work of the student movements nationwide for many years.

Mr. Le Quoc Phong suggested the city student association to continue to pay attention, identify more specific solutions, innovative breakthroughs to implement in the second half of the term, as to bring into full play the great potential of students in the city, enabling students to make new contributions to the movements and theories over their work.

"These requirements should be approached in a new context with the dynamic and rapid development of the student movements, the increasing change and demands for learning conditions, forging the impact of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution and new mechanisms of Ho Chi Minh City”, said Mr. Le Quoc Phong.

"Ho Chi Minh City students are an important component of the youth force in the city. They are high quality human resources, converging from many localities in the country. By gathering, training and promoting this force, it brings significant meaning in the development of many localities, the city and of the country as a whole" – said the President of Viet Nam National Union of Students.
