Youth volunteers actively overcome aftermath of floods in Thanh Hoa

Thanh Hoa Province - floodwater triggered by heavy rains over the last days of August 2018 has caused serious damages, isolated many villages and towns, put misery on many local residents in several districts of Cam Thuy, Muong Lat, Quan Hoa, Yen Dinh ... of Thanh Hoa province. Youth unions from provincial to commune levels have mobilised a number of young volunteer forces to the sites to actively participate in overcoming the consequences of floods.

At the mountainous district of Cam Thuy, the hardest hit by the floods, many people were still submerged in muddy waters even after the floodwater receded. Much support was needed.

On 03 September 2018, a delegation of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, led by Permanent Secretary Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, visited and gave support to the volunteering forces at Cam Luong Commune and Cam Thuy Town. Joining with Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan included secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union, permanent deputy secretary of Cam Thuy District Youth Union and director of Tien Phong Newspaper.

On behalf of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Permanent Secretary Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan had sent words of encouragement to the volunteering teams, gave comforting messages and presented supporting assistances to 18 families suffered from the floodwater.

Torrential rains and rising river levels have caused flooding and landslides in northern and central provinces. Information from the local steering committee on natural disaster prevention and control showed that Thanh Hóa had suffered the highest number of casualties, with nine people dead and three others missing.
