Vietnam and Cambodia to further strengthen tie, understanding and cooperation among youths

Hanoi - Within framework of exchange between the two countries’ high-ranking official visits, a delegation of the Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia (UYFC), led by the UYFC’s president H.E. Hun Many, has paid a working visit to the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF), hosted by VYF’s president H.E. Le Quoc Phong.

Receiving UYFC’s president Hun Many at the headquarters includes the Alternate Member of the CPV Central Committee, HCYU’'s First Secretary, VYF’'s president Le Quoc Phong; HCYU Secretary Bui Quang Huy; HCYU Standing Committee Member, Head of Youth Solidarity and Mobilisation Department, Permanent Vice President of the VYF, Nguyen Thi Thu Van; HCYU Standing Committee Member, Head of International Department, Vice President of the VYF, Nguyen Hai Minh; along with officials from various HYCU departments.

Addressing the high-level meeting, VYF’s president Le Quoc Phong extended his warm welcome and greetings to UYFC’s president and the attending delegates to Hanoi, Vietnam. “We congratulate the Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia on its  40th year anniversary of establishment (02/12/1978 - 02/12/2018) and wish the 5th National Congress of the UYFC a great success. We trust the UYFC will be further developed and highly regarded by the youths and people of Cambodia” - said Mr. Le Quoc Phong.

On this occasion, Mr. Le Quoc Phong introduced to the Cambodia officials about some of the significant results, achievements, programs and movements for the youths of Vietnam. Besides, the HCYU designated 2018 as the “Year of Creative Youth” to further promote the innovative spirit of Vietnamese youths in all fields as one of the approaches to achieve this term’s resolution.

In addition, 2018 is the 4th year of implementing the resolution of the National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Federation, with theme of "creative youth"; at the same time, the VYF continues to effectively implement the movement "I Love My Fatherland" with many activities for young people, volunteering to solve problems of social security, community development, environmental protection. The youths thrive to set up business, put forward the development of the association and the expansion of the united front.

At the meeting, Mr. Le Quoc Phong proposed six contents for the next period of cooperation including continuing to strengthen education for young people about good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam.; continuously exchanging high-level delegations between the two organizations, promoting exchanges of young businessmen, youth and students; promoting youth volunteer activities between the two countries, two-way exchanges, UYFC to send delegates to attend training courses, sharing experience on youth work in Vietnam; encouraging border provinces to organize exchanges to increase mutual understanding, at the same time, promoting the tradition of solidarity and friendship to support each other in the common forum of youth in the region and the world.

Expressing his delight to visit Vietnam, President of the Cambodia Youth Union, Mr. Hun Many, shared with the proposals of Mr. Le Quoc Phong, and said that he would soon organize discussions, to discuss the signing of a youth cooperation agreement between the two organizations later this year.

According to Mr. Hun Many, young people need to have appropriate methods of advocacy for youth, and create favorable conditions for youths to participate in many useful activities.

Mr. Hun Many hope that the two organizations will educate young people more about the history and good relationship between the two countries to unite and support each other. "The two youths need to inherit the good relationship, continue to unite and coordinate for the future of each country," said Mr. Hun Many.
