National flagpole inaugurated in Hon La Island

Web. HCYU.28.04.2018. Quang Binh – The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Vietnam National Union of Students and Quang Binh Provincial Youth Union coordinated inauguration of the national flagpole in Hon La of Quang Binh.

Attending the inauguration includes HCYU First Secretary, President of the National Union of Students Mr Le Quoc Phong and Vice Chairman of Quang Binh’s People Committee Mr Le Minh Ngan.

Construction of a flagpole in Hon La Island of Quang Trach, Quang Binh is part of the national flagpole project at many islands of Vietnam coordinated by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Vietnam National Union of Students and provincial youth unions.

The work of Hon La National flagpole started on 26 March 2015 with total funding of 1.2 billion VND. The flagpole has a height of 22,66m on the foundation of steel-reinforced concrete. The construction work occupied 163m2 consisting of the body of the flagpole, inox pole, ground and embossments.   

The four edges of flagpole include the national emblem, golden star, informtion about the island and others. Two embossments reinforced with concrete-steel, coated with natural red granite and engraved logo of the students and youth unions expressing Vietnam youth’s aspiration.  

Addressing the inauguration, first secretary Le Quoc Phong states that the youth work of national flagpole is a significant project contributing to the confirmation of the Vietnam's sovereign over the islands.

The national flagpole is also an educational destination as it shows the love, proud, responsibility of protecting fatherland. At the same time, the flagpole on Hon La Island also has a historical meaning, in honor of those who bravely sacrificed in national defence and affirmed sovereignty over the islands and waters of the Fatherland.
