Contest for exploring history and culture launched

Web.HCYU.09/11/2015. Hanoi – a contest for exploring culture and history themed “Proud of Viet Nam” had been officially launched for students of high schools and continuing education centers nationwide. This contest is jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Ministry of Education and Training.

The launching session was attended by Deputy Head of the Party's Central Mass Mobilization Commission Mr Nguyen Van Hung; Deputy Head of the Party’s Central Propaganda and Training Commission Mrs Lam Phuong Thanh; HCYU Secretary and President of Vietnam Students Association along with representatives of the central propaganda and training commission, students and pupils affairs department, education and training ministry, party commission of Hanoi city.

The contest aims at realizing the project of “strengthening youths’ ethnics, lifestyles and revolutionary ideology period 2013-2020” promulgated by Secretariat of the Party Executive Central Committee.

The throughout content of the contest includes knowledge of Vietnamese history and culture which are taught and learned during the school education. The contents include important landmarks, nation’s heroes, and great persons of culture, war martyrs’ heroes, and outstanding individuals over different periods.      

Address the opening ceremony, Mr Le Quoc Phong stated that “History and culture play special roles, foundation of society, lean point of the people, driving force of national development, country that preserves and promote cultural identities, learn and respect the history can find the path of sustainable development for present and future.” He also emphasized that it is crucial for the youth, students in particular to understand the history and origin of the country, through this, cultivate the patriotism, and preserve and sense of responsibility to homeland and country.
