Vietnam – Laos youth preserve and promote the traditional relationship between the two countries

Web.HCYU. 21/7/2013 - Cua Lo town, Nghe An province, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in collaboration with Lao PDR Youth Union, organised a closing ceremony of Vietnam – Laos Friendship Youth Meeting 2013.

Attended was Mr Phan Van Mai, Permanent Secretary the HCYU; Mr Nguyen Long Hai, Secretary of the HCYU, Mr Nguyen Xuan Dai, Standing Member of Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee, Mr Khampha Phimason, Deputy Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union Head of the delegation, along with youth union members of the two countries, people and tourists at Cua Lo town.

Vietnam – Laos Friendship Youth Meeting 2013 took place in 7 days from 15 - 21/7/2013 with various activities at different provinces and cities: Son La, Tuyen Quang, Hanoi, Nghe An...

The meeting creates an opportunity for the Laos-Vietnam youth to review and exchange the special traditional friendship between the two Parties, two Governments, the people and youths; discuss the issues that are concerned.

At this meeting, the Laos youth representatives directly visited the revolutionary vestige at My Bang commune, Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province and send gifts to families that took part in the Lao revolution; directly attended the Award of Vietnam – Laos First class Medal of Independence of the two governments for the two Youth Unions, confirming the recognition and encouragement of the central Parties and Governments. The delegates have also visited the youth from Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT)

On this occasion, Lao youth delegates had a chance to experience real life in Vietnamese families with nearly two days eat, live and join the activities together for understanding and sharing.

On behalf of Laos youth delegates participated in the event, Mr Khampha Phimason, Deputy Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union expressed profound gratitude to the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Party committees, Governments and the Youth Union at Tuyen Quang, Hanoi and Nghe An for welcoming and creating the most favorable conditions for this meaningful event.

“Through this meeting, we are proud of the relationship of Vietnam – Laos, which has been a tradition for a long time and rare in the world. It is the priceless gift that has been exchanged by sweat, blood and tears. As the young generation, we must inherit, preserve and promote this tradition”, said Mr Mr Khampha Phimason, Deputy Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr Phan Van Mai, Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union said: “With the tremendous effort of both sides, the Vietnam – Lao Friendship Youth Meeting 2013 has been a great success. It contributed greatly to strengthen exchange and expand the knowledge of the young generation of Vietnam and Laos, as well as strengthening the relationship between the two Parties, two Governments, their people and youth.”

With the traditional friendship of Vietnam – Laos being a priceless asset of the two countries that has been built and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and generations of leaders and people of the two countries.  “The mission of our younger generations now is to join hands to preserve and promote further the valuable tradition by the efforts, cooperation and contribute practical significance”, Mr Phan Van Mai emphasized. He then wished youths of two nations to keep in touch with each other regularly, actively implement the cooperation between the youth to express a positive way of mission to contribute to strengthening the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two governments and people of Vietnam and Laos.

At the closing ceremony, two countries youth performed songs with great national identity. During 22 July 2013, the representatives of Lao PDR will visit Ho Chi Minh’s hometown and depart back to their country, successfully wrap up the Vietnam – Laos Friendship Youth Meeting 2013.
