Eighth ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth in Brunei completed
Web.HCYU.27/5/2013 - Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Committee on Youth of Vietnam, Duong Van An has successfully completed his business trip to the Eighth ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth (AMMY VIII) and the Fourth ASEAN Plus Three Ministerial Meeting on Youth (4th AMMY +3).
The AMMY VIII and related meetings gathers some of the top officials in charged with youth in ASEAN Member States to discuss common issues regarding youth.
In 2013, Brunei Darussalam assumes the Chairmanship of ASEAN and at the meeting H.E. Pehin Dato Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah chaired the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth (AMMY VIII) and the 4th AMMY+3 on 22 and 23 of May 2013 respectively.

In his speech, Mr Duong Van An congratulated Brunei Darussalam for taking over the Chairmanship role and wished the 8th AMMY a great success. He then praised the theme for 2013’s AMMY, “Young People – Building Tomorrow’s ASEAN Today”, which focuses on role of today’s youths in developing the ASEAN.

Furthermore, Mr An reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment in further promoting cultural and friendship exchange to raise the ASEAN awareness. He asked the attending heads of delegations to discuss and support programs and action plans in building young human resource, putting forward youth leadership training and volunteer programs for ASEAN community development. He also welcomed ideas about protecting the environment, tackling climate change or youth unemployment, addressing roles of youth with science and technology, strengthening rural youth development, disadvantaged youth assistance and young entrepreneurship cooperation.
During the event, the head of delegation also paid a courtesy visit to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in the Capital of Bandar Seri Begawan.

On the sideline of the meeting, the host country launched the First ASEAN Youth Entrepreneurs Seminar and Exposition (AYESE).
