100 students awarded “January Star” prizes 2013

To commemorate 63 years of the Traditional Student’s Day and of the Vietnam National Union of Students (01/09/1950 - 01/09/2013), the Central of Vietnam National Union of Students coordinated with the Vietnamese Student Newspaper on organizing an award ceremony of the January Star Prize 2013.

On 08 Jan 2013, in Hanoi, the Central of the Vietnam National Union of Students coordinated with the Vietnamese Student Newspaper, International Development and Cooperation Company (IDCC) held a ceremony to award the “January Star” prizes and honour the titles of “student with 5 good points” in 2013.

This is the 15th presentation the Vietnam National Union of Students Central in awarding the “January Star” prizes. This year, 105 students were awarded, most of them gained the average academic grade point of 8.5 or higher, and participated in various Union activities as well as the student movements. In which, 72 are at universities and 28 at colleges, including 5 students of ethnic minorities. 

The awarded students receive the certificates of merit of the Vietnam National Union of Students Central; the award trophy and 1 million monetary prize. At the ceremony, the Secretariat of the student Union honored 10 students who are the most outstanding candidates.

At the same time, the Vietnam National Union of Students honours the title of “student with 5 good points” to 140 students based on 5 criteria: "good in morality; good in physical health; good in skills; and good in integration”.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Student Development and Support Foundation (VSDSF) which was co-founded by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central, the Central of the Vietnam National Union of Students and the Vietnamese Student Development and Support Centre officially starts in operation.

The Foundation was established with the initial financial contribution of its founding members and the fund raised voluntarily by individuals, domestic and foreign organizations. It aims at working towards the development of young generation, offering valuable support to students with financial hardships but demonstrating significant efforts and perseverance in overcoming adversity during their studies at universities and colleges.
