Vietnamese young physicians practice morality and profession for community health

The 2nd National Congress of Vietnamese Young Physicians Association, term 2012-2015, started in Hanoi. On 04 January 2013, the Second session of the Congress held with the attendance of Ms Nguyen Thi Doan, Member of the CPV Central Committee, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Member of the CPV Central Committee, Minister of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Nguyen Dac Vinh, Alternate Member of the CPV Central Committee, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and 287 young physicians representing for more than 80,000 young doctors, nurses across Vietnam attended the Congress.

In his report, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, President of the Vietnamese Young Physicians Association, states that over last term, three launched major campaigns of the Association "Young physicians train and practice to enhance medical ethics", “Young physicians being creative in scientific research", "Young physicians act for the community health" have contributed greatly to the society. They have highlighted the vanguard roles of young physicians in protecting, caring and improving people's health; ensuring social welfare; meet the needs and aspirations of young physicians; and help the Association truly become a close friend of young doctors, pharmacists and nurses on the way of personal development and setting up their professions.

In the next term, the Vietnamese Young Physicians Association will strive for a strong association, extends the solidarity front to bring together young physicians; care and protect legitimate interests of the young physicians; encourage young physicians in reaching aspirations; promote moral and professional practices, foster self development, contribute and improve people's health. As a result, the new term’s action slogan is “young physicians practice morality and profession for the community health.”

Addressed at the Congress, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan praised the three major campaigns and emphasized that the campaigns encouraged young physicians volunteering in the remote areas had achieved specific performance, the youth had placed their footsteps no matter how remote it was. The young physicians appeared in white blouses with the blue color of volunteering.

Established 3 years ago but the Association has great influence gathering young people who devote their time to all over the country. This is a school of the young doctors for the health sector, a skills training place helping them develop, progress and contribute to the country, the Vice president said.

In addition, the Vice President suggests the Association to continue focusing on the three major movements, while being the core force of the party and make the health sector developed.

The Vice President wants every young doctor, nurse across the nation to promote the spirit of learning, apply science and technology to their practice, the young doctor today must be at the forefront of every movement of the health sector, especially the movement of increasing quality of medical service and ethics, make people feel as comfortable as they are home with their families.

The Congress elected 98 members of the executive committee, 7 vice presidents and Dr Tang Chi Thuong was reelected as the President of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association term 2012-2015.

Within the framework of the Congress, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Committee officially praised 10 outstanding young physicians of Vietnam 2012; the Government awarded certificates of merit for 4 individuals who have outstanding achievements during the first term of the Association.
