Continue to coordinate the implementation of activities to support and accompany Vietnamese youth

Web.HCYU.12/4/2021. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and Plan International in Vietnam agreed to continue implementing coordinated programs and activities to support, accompany and promote the development of Vietnamese youth.

H.E. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Council Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers’ Organization had a meeting with Ms. Sharon maree Kane, National Director of Plan International in Vietnam.

In recent years, Plan International in Vietnam has coordinated with the HCYU at all levels to implement several meaningful activities and projects to support and accompany the Vietnamese youth. H.E. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luong expressed his gratitude to Ms. Sharon maree Kane and Plan International in Vietnam for their proactive companionship in promoting the development of Vietnamese youth.

At the meeting, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luong requested Plan International to pay attention to a number of priorities for cooperation with the Central Youth Union in the coming time, including: continuing to coordinate the implementation of the cooperation program "Stimulate participation rights of children in issues related to children” in the period 2021 – 2025. Additionally, both sides continue to coordinate to carry out the "Supporting the development of Vietnamese youth health in the period of 2019 - 2021 in the Global Youth Health Program" project focused on improving the health and well-being youth at the age of 10-24 in Vietnam. The project has reached over 33,762 people, approximately 49%. Therefore, the Central Youth Union proposed Plan and the sponsors to extend the project by 6 months (until June 2022). The Central Youth Union also requested Plan International to adjust the implementation budget to the "Supporting young migrants and young workers through the Safe Journey app" for the new fiscal year from June 2021 to June 2022.

Ms. Sharon maree Kane, National Director of Plan International in Vietnam agreed on the proposals made by the Central Youth Union. Plan is currently operating in 8 provinces in Vietnam and its 5-year strategy aims to work with government agencies at all levels to bring changes to the lives of at least 2 million girls in Vietnam.

With the vision and mission of Plan and the priorities of the Central Youth Union, Ms. Sharon maree Kane emphasized both sides’ similarity in targeted groups as children and adolescents. She hoped that a 4-year period (2021 – 2025) strategic cooperation framework between Plan and the Central Youth Union could be signed to have an overall action plan concentrated on the priorities for better comprehensive results./.
