Strengthening coordination between the Youth Union of Vietnam and Cuba

Web.HCYU.24/3/2020. In the afternoon of March 23rd, in Hanoi, the delegation of the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU), led by the Permanent Secretary Nguyen Anh Tuan had a meeting with the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam.

Talking with Ms. Lianys Torres Rivera, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam about the cooperation between Vietnam-Cuba in youth activities on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries, Permanent Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee, Chairman of Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan showed appreciation to Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera for paying attention to the coordination activities between the HCYU and the Cuban Communist Youth Union, as well as the cooperation activities between the two countries' youth.

Expressing admiration and gratitude to the Cuban Party, State and people while the State is facing many difficulties but still promptly helped other countries in the process of COVID-19 prevention and control, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said: Regarding the activities to prepare the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba, the HCYU has proactively promulgated plan since the beginning of 2020. In addition to promoting propaganda on the traditional friendship between the two countries’ parties, states, people and the youth, on the 60th anniversary milestones between the two countries, the HCYU will undertake more activities, including exchanging high-level delegations, organizing drawing competitions between children of the two countries and cultural exchange activities, and organizing response programs in localities.

Accordingly, the Delegation of the HCYU will pay a working visit in Cuba to discuss and deepen the relationship between the Youth Union and the youth of the two countries, as well as discuss cooperation plans in the future. The drawing competition between children of Vietnam - Cuba will focus on the traditional relationship between the two countries and people. The winning paintings of two countries will be exchanged through high-level visits, multilateral exchanges or propagated through the use of internet tools.

Besides, the HCYU will organize film screenings, cultural and physical training and sport activities for Vietnamese and Cuban youth currently living and studying in Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan also proposed the Young Communist League (Cuba) to organize similar activities for Vietnamese youths and students living and studying in Cuba.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, propagating and organizing commemorative and meeting activities on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Vietnam-Cuba Diplomatic Relations will be focused on complying with orientations of the Central Commission for External Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association. At the same time, the Central HCYU will ask the provinces and cities to organize activities simultaneously to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere for Vietnamese youths as well as Cuban youths who are studying and living in Vietnam.

The Permanent Secretary Nguyen Anh Tuan wishes to receive the attention and support of the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam and Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera, personally.

Highly appreciating Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s plan to organize activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations establishment between Vietnam-Cuba, Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera said that the activities were appropriately and practically designed for youths of both countries.

Emphasizing that the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic is a war of the entire population, including the youth, Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera expressed her belief that the measures of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam would continue bringing positive effects in controlling the epidemic. At the same time, Cuba is taking measures to prevent the spread of the disease. 

Affirming that the Embassy of Cuba in Vietnam is always ready to support and send representatives to participate in activities of celebrating the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera wanted the HCYU and Young Communist League (Cuba) to maintain close relationship and prepare carefully to undertake joint activities when the situation of COVID-19 outbreak is under control.
