Vietnamese youth joined exchange program with the National Cadet Corps of India

Web.HCYU.04/02/2013 – A Vietnamese delegation of 15 members, led by Mr Le Quang Dai, Chief of Hanoi HCYU's office, joined the annual youth exchange program with the National Cadet Corps of India (NCC) in New Delhi of India, from 15 to 30 Jan 2013.

During the program, the Vietnamese delegation joined with others from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Srilanka and Kazakhstan in the NCC camp. The exchange program includes: Introducing about National Cadet Corps of India and its activities; Meeting and exchanging information with the cadets from India and other countries; Meeting with Indian national leaders including the Prime minister, President of India; and army officers such as the Minister of Defence and Chief of Naval Staff; Delivering presentation about Vietnam and  joining the cultural show with other countries; Visiting historical and cultural places in the cities of New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

On the most important ocassion, the delegation had the chance to witness the Republic Day Parade in the capital city of New Delhi on 26 January 2013. The parade, which lasted for two hours, had the participation of different resignments of India Air Force, Navy and Infantry troops, together with the march of many states within the India Republic.

The youth exchange program is a significant opportunity for the attending youth to improve general knowledge and strengthen international friendship with the youth from countries in the South Asia region. Besides, this program helps maintain and develop the trustful relationship between Vietnam and India, established by the President Ho Chi Minh and PM Nehru since 1954.

In the meetings with the NCC’s cadets, both sides have shown several common points and shared good practices in organizing youth activities.

On 24 Jan 2013, Vietnamese delegation also visited Vietnamese Embassy to India, in New Delhi and learned about the relationship development between Vietnam and India.

NCC is a body organization under Indian Ministry of Defence, in charge of recruiting and training cadets. It was established in 1948 and now has its head office in New Delhi and 17 branches in other states. NCC recruits voluntary students from the highschools, universities and colleges in all over India and provides them with training programs under infantry, airforce and navy divisions. Trained cadets have priority to join the army as they wish and are the main reservation force of the Indian Army.
